EAServer 5.5 - Java version

We currently use EAS 5.5 with PB 10.2 on Windows XP. We are in the process of upgrading PB 12.5, while keeping EAServer 5.5. But our machines got upgraded to Windows 7 (64-bit) in the mean time. There are some issues, but nothing that's a show stopper yet.

One peculiar problem I had with EAS 5.5 on Windows 7 (and on Windows 2008R2) is that the log files show GMT rather than local time. I posted about this earlier here (This happens in both Java 1.4.2_13 and 1.5.0_09). Since then I have found the reason and a fix for it too.

My question here is about the Java version used to start EAS. While testing with various versions of JVM inside EAServer for the timezone issue, found that Java 1.5.0_22 (the latest release for Java 1.5) actually worked and did not have timezone issue. (I changed the VM used by changing the JDK/JRE used by setting it in setenv.bat).

Can I replace the Java 1.5 inside EAServer's shared folder with the latest release (1.5.0_22)? Replacing JDK/JRE to the latest release level makes sense to me, but I am wondering if there will be any issues on the EAServer side. Has anyone done this? If so, can you please share any issues you had? Appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Thanks

Sam
