Issue with rich text datawindows and rich text edit controls after migrating PB11 application to PB12.5

Hello,

I have recently migrated a Powerbuilder 11.1 Build 8204 application to Powerbuilder 12.5 Build 2511 and have run into an issue with rich text edit controls and rich text edit datawindows after migration.

Previously we used a rich text edit control for printing reports with custom paper sizes and margins.  We used the CopyRTF and PasteRTF functions to build the syntax for the rich text edit control to display and print the formatted data from the datawindow.  This functionality worked great in Powerbuilder 11.

In PB12.5, the behaviour and formatting for the rich text edit controls seems to have changed.  Our preview in PB12.5 no longer displays the data from the input fields from the datawindow.  The borders and formatting still appear, just none of the data from the input fields.

Below is the data returned rtf data we are pasting into the rich text edit control:

As you can see, the MERGEFIELD is identified in the PB11 rtf, however, it does not seem to exist in the PB12.5 rft.  Any ideas on what has changed or what i would need to do to display rich text datawindow data within the rich text edit control in PB12.5?

Any help on this issue is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Karen

Database:  O90 Oracle 9i

I have created a function with C++ in a .DLL file and I invoke it from PowerBuilder and I get the following error message:

Can you please help me on resolving this issue?

I greatly appriciate any help on this in advance!

PB 12.6 (build 3506) Application Exit Codes

Environment:  Windos 2012 R2 Server,

PowerBuilder 12.6 Build 3506

Building 32 bit application

I've got a utility application that's running as a service.  We're using NSSM (the Non-Sucking Service Manager) to run the program.

NSSM can take actions depending on the exit code.

In earlier versions of PowerBuilder I could accomplish this by setting Message.LongParm in the application close or application system error event.

Now, that's not working and the advice I'm seeing tends more toward

// External FUNCTION declaration

SUBROUTINE ExitProcess(ulong uExitCode) LIBRARY "kernel32.dll"

// Powerscript

ExitProcess(50)

But that seems like it terminates the application and any clean up that might have occurred with a normal application exit isn't going to happen.

my question is...

Is this really my only option or is there some other way I have not been able to find?

Secondary concern.. where do I find the full 12.6 manuals?  I keep ending up at SyBooks which only has documentation up to 12.0 and SAP PowerBuilder 12.6 – SAP Help Portal Page only gives me the new feature guide, installation and release notes, but not the actual documentation.

select all checkbox at header column of data window

Hi,

I tried to add a check box at header column of data window. It doesn't allow to place check box at header column, it allows to add at detail columns.  my requirement is to place check box at header. once the user select the checkbox all the detail row check box should be selected . So, in tabpage I insert a check box and placed above the date window, It works fine. But the problem is while I do a horizontal scroll the checkbox is in constant position. But in background the data window is scrolling. Is there any function to insert check box into datawindow? Or any process to rectify it?

Problem with Powerbuilder MAPI / Mozilla Thunderbird / Tobit David

$

Hello,

since PB 12.6 (Build 4035) we have problems using the "mailsession" object with programs like "Mozilla Thunderbird" or "Tobit David".

Although e.g. Mozilla is the default email client on the users computer, the mailsession object always tries to send mails using Outlook.

With PB 12.5 it worked as it should.

I read that you changed the mailsession object to "extended mapi". Do we have to rewrite our code to send mails with Mozilla again?

We send mails like that:

mailSession     mSes

mailMessage     mMsg

mSes = CREATE mailSession

mSes.mailLogon()

mMsg.Subject          = "Subject"

mMsg.NoteText         = "Body"

mMsg.Recipient[1].Name               = "Test"

mMsg.Recipient[1].Address           = "test@test.com"

mMsg.Recipient[1].RecipientType  = MailTo!

mMsg.AttachmentFile[1].Pathname    = "c:\print\invoice.pdf"

mMsg.AttachmentFile[1].FileType    = mailAttach!

mMsg.AttachmentFile[1].Position    = 1

mRet = mSes.mailSend(mMsg)

mSes.mailLogoff()

Why is datawindow retrieval in Window so much slower than Datawindow painter?

$
0
0

I am using PB 12.5.

The problem is my datawindow that uses a stored procedure as a data source runs in 2-3 seconds in the Datawindow painter.  However, when the window runs the data retrieval takes 12-15 seconds.  The database I am using is SQLserver 2008.

Any suggestions as to why there is such a large difference between the retrieval in the Datawindow painter vs. the Window?

Thanks

Run and Wait

I want to run another powerbuilder application exe from our main application when a user clicks on a menu item

I've seen examples of the run and wait.

Will this work with another pb .exe

My goal is to force the user to close the launched .exe before returning the "launching application"

Thanks

VPN connection to Sybase is slow

$

I am using PB 12.5 connecting to ASE 16 Linux on an server running on an Amazon box. The connection is via a VPN tunnel.

When I use interactive sql in PB and do a query like "select * from TABLE1" it is very slow to respond. The table only has 100 rows and about 30 columns. It normally takes about 15 seconds to respond.

If I do the same query to a testing db that is local to the PB then the response is less than a second.

I did a trace and the culprit seems to be the ASE db driver is issuing a DBI_COLUMN_INFO request for each column and this is taking about 80% of the time for the query.

If I do the same query to the remote db using ASE odbc driver then it is under 2 seconds and there is no DBI_COLUMN_INFO requests being made.

The ODBC looks to be using DBI_DW_COL_DICT to retrieve the column info and this is taking less than 90ms to retrieve as apposed to 14000ms for the DBI_COLUMN_INFO.

Anybody out there have any ideas to speed this up?

How can I generate PDF

Good morning to all.

I have this need:

I need to print massively invoices and store them individually, in pdf format, divided into different folders per customer.

How can I do to create PDF without interacting with the user ( name file , folder name, etc ) ?

i know there's a function "saveas" with the type 'PDF!', but it does not work.

eg: dw_1.SaveAs ("C: \ Temp \ in \ dw_one.pdf", PDF !, false)

Do I have to install the printer 'Sybase DataWindow PS'?

I do not know where to find the drivers, and above all, it is compatible with Windows 8.1?

datastore print with WCF

Hi,

I'm using pb.net 12.6 WCF Target.   Calling from a pb classic 12.6 application.   The WCF 12.6 tarshould load a datawindow into a datastore, retrieve, and then print.   I tried using both the datastore.print(false,false) and Printdatawindow().   With datastore.print(false) the print job just sits spooling forever with no data.   With Printdatawindow, it prints blank pages.

My code in the pb.net WCF function is very simple

datastore ds_test

sqlca.DBMS =  'OLE DB'

sqlca.AutoCommit = True

sqlca.DBParm = "PROVIDER='SQLOLEDB',DATASOURCE='XXX',PROVIDERSTRING='database=xxx;Trusted_Connection=yes;'"

Connect using sqlca;

ds_test = create datastore

ds_test.dataobject = "d_test1"

ds_test.SetTransObject(sqlca)

ds_test.Retrieve()

long l_job

i_job = PrintOpen( )

PrintDataWindow(l_job, ds_test)

PrintClose(l_job)

return ds_test.RowCount()

I set the STAOperationBehavior Operation Attribute.

Anything else to try?

luo_creds.Password = as_password

luo_creds.Username = as_userName

FileNet.Api.Util.ClientContext.SetProcessCredentials( luo_creds )

luo_Connection = FileNet.Api.Core.Factory.Connection.GetConnection( as_uri )

Problem : In Powerbuilder 12.6, the saved Password is disappeared at DB Profile setup as below, hence they hit ORA-1005 null password given;logon denied.

They don't want to enter the password everytime. Is there anyone advise how to solve it ?

Our customer is very new to PB 12.6 and in the previous release it won't happen.

Hi all,

         I try to incorporate a certificate in EAServer 6.3.

         My actions :

                   - Integration of the certificate in the keystore : keytool -import -alias alias_name

                   - Defining a security profile in EAServer.

                   - Restarting  the server.

        In the server log, I have an error.

        SSLKeyException  : key entry not found .................

Does anyone have any idea ?
